A mob of walkers eats Gabriel alive, leaving him a husk of picked-over bones. Glenn then approaches Hershel, asking for his approval of the marriage. While staying at the prison, tragedy strikes as she and Hershel stumble upon the mutilated corpses of her two sisters. She bonds with the grieving Daryl and Sasha, before encountering Aaron (Ross Marquand), a recruiter for a community named Alexandria. This causes Rick to punch Maggie in the face with his cane. He then tells Maggie that she seems to be distracted over the last few days; Maggie, thinking about where Negan is due to a map Dante brought her the previous day, says it's nothing. In the episode "When the Dead Come Knocking", Glenn is tortured and Maggie is forced to half-strip for The Governor (David Morrissey) who threatened her with rape in his attempt to get her to divulge the location of their camp, which she eventually does when The Governor threatens to shoot Glenn. In The Walking Dead issue #158, Gabriel acts as lookout atop a water tower when he spots the Whisperer horde advancing towards the survivors' position. Lauren Cohan is back in the saddle as Maggie Rhee when The Walking Dead returns with its Season 10 finale, "A Certain Doom," on October 4. Paul suddenly appears, initially she storms off at him, but, later stays calm after hearing that Rick wants her to be part of the plan against the Saviors. [volume & issue needed] Maggie successfully overthrows Gregory's position as leader and the allied forces manage to work together and capture Negan, who subsequently resides as a prisoner at the Alexandria Safe Zone. After Carl leaving in a huff, Sophia agrees with Carl and insults her half brother; when Maggie chastises her, Sophia places the blame of Hershel's behavior on her for being a submissive parent at times. Jesus asks Maggie what the Hilltop should do and Maggie says they will help Alexandria. They start to talk about Rick and the others, and Axel says they might come back. Maggie agrees with Rick's plan to visit the Commonwealth, and agrees to the alliance if Rick approves of what he sees there. It was later reported Cohan had not reached an agreement to sign on for season 9 as a main cast member due to a pay dispute, as she demanded an enhanced salary closer to her male co-stars Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus.
