In an interview Ligotti described his style as an attempt to read like awkwardly translated East-European literature. I had to make an exception in this case (not the first time I've done so). I've read this book a few times and it never fails to give me the willies or, more seriously, a creeping sense of fear mixed with horrified fascination.
