Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key are reuniting for a new animated film by The Nightmare Before Christmas director Henry Selick. Peele is also on deck to pen the script alongside Clay McLeod Chapman and Selick, who have also written a children's book based on the same concept. The first was Bubbles, a pic about Michael Jackson’s pet chimpanzee, which Netflix won at an auction at Cannes. Now, Peele is set to produce Spike Lee's upcoming crime drama Black Klansman and is working on another directorial feature. On Wednesday, Deadline reported that Netflix has officially signed on to finance and release Wendell and Wild—the first movie to get Key and Peele back on the big screen together since 2016's Keanu. Key and Peele is reuniting for a new Netflix movie. The film will be financed and distributed by Netflix, and directed by James and the Giant Peach’s Henry Selick, who also helmed Coraline and The Nightmare Before Christmas. The hellish new movie will transform Key and Peele into demon brothers, who will try to scheme their way out of hell by facing off against their nemesis. Remember when Jordan Peele quit acting back in January? Wendell And Wild will see the pair voice a set of 'demonic brothers'. He became the first African American to win the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay this year, for his directorial debut Get Out. At the time, though, he was currently the voice of Duke Ellington’s ghost on the Netflix animated show Big Mouth.. teaching the world about the intricacies of crypto, written a children's book based on the same concept. Well apparently voice-over work is still on the table. He currently stars in the Netflix ensemble dramedy Friends from College and will voice one of the hyenas in the upcoming live-action Lion King adaptation. Hopefully, this new Netflix connection will mean that Key and Peele will get a shot at pitching some ideas to Obama, too. In January, Peele told CBS Sunday Morning, “Acting is just nowhere near as fun for me as directing.” Later he revealed that he quit acting after being offered the role of poop in The Emoji Movie. He will also direct the pilot episode for the TV adaptation of the recently released horror platform video game Little Nightmares. But the director and animator has not released a new movie in nearly a decade â his last release being 2009's horror-tinged, alternate-dimension fantasy movie Coraline. 'Wendell and Wild' is a stop-motion film about a pair of demon brothers, because why not? For his part, Jordan Peele has started to make more of a name for himself behind the camera. In addition to the movie, Selick and Chapman are set to write a book that will publish around the time of the film’s release. Henry Selick has a few other projects in the works right now in addition to Wendell and Wild â he is making his first foray into live-action with an adaptation of the 2011 dark fairy tale collection A Tale Dark and Grimm, and is still working to release his supernatural stop-motion thriller The Shadow King after Disney declined to produce the project. Although Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele rose to fame as a comedy team, the comedians have also carved out impressive solo careers since their sketch series ended three years ago. The comedy team rose to fame after co-starring on Mad TV throughout the 2000s, and the launching their own beloved sketch comedy series Key & Peele, which aired from 2012 to 2015.
