In May 2009, Green was the subject of the BBC Four documentary Peter Green: Man of the World produced by Henry Hadaway. Keira Knightley, Brad Pitt, and Sharon Stone all scored early roles in scary movies. | There she meets and is romanced by a worldly novelist; what she doesn't know is that he is a blackmailer who is using her to get to her uncle. The film also examines how electroconvulsive therapy prolonged his illness and absence from the music scene. I won't talk here about the musician and his music, but about the film itself.
The film focuses on Peter's struggles with mental illness, and looks at some of the lurid tales that have been told of Peter's life during his retirement; but oddly makes no mention of the five solo albums he produced between 1979 and 1981. Passed Thoroughly enjoyed this revealing and very honest doco - but I'm a fanatic for truly great guitar players. Its earliest documented television presentations took place in Milwaukee 31 December 1959 on WITI (Channel 6), in Los Angeles 12 February 1960 on KNXT (Channel 2), and in St. Louis 2 May 1960 on KMOX (Channel 4). After a troubled life, the founder of Fleetwood Mac died on July 25th, aged 73.
