So, given the popularity of Peavey’s Misha Mansoor signature Invective.120, this Invective.MH version seemed predestined. The rhythm and lead channels more than give off clean and distorted sounds, respectively. My only complaint was some of the mids seemed a little muddy, but it may have been the guitarist's medium grade guitar / pickups / playing style, or the placement of the mics. As we mentioned, it’s literally based on its larger predecessor, so you can expect the same structure, voicing, and features. …, The Behringer BXD3000H - How does this amp head hold up to a review? I have not tried the USB recording out yet, so I can't comment on it. It’s to be expected that the miniature version of one of the great is going to pretty much emulate its larger version, so it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise. The 3 star rating comes down to personal preference. It does sound good, but for some reason I wasn't able to play it for more than 1 to to hours. This little amp has all the gain, actually just a little bit more than my 6505+, as I had to set the pre controls just a notch lower on this one to get the same amount of gain. After a lot of online research, and comparison to other mini amp heads, i decided on this one for not only the sound it gives, but all the features it has. The Peavey 6505 Mini Head is everything I had hoped it would be, great sound without being overly loud, I use it on the 5 watt setting. I use it for Rock and Metal but the clean and crunch settings are superb. So, monday I contacted my sales rep who got me in touch with the service department. I am really liking my first tube amp! Switched out the V1 high gain standard JJ preamp tube that came stock and the V2 Ruby that came stock for 2 JJ 5751 lower gain preamps. It's a 60 watt speaker and this amp head makes the cab come alive. It is tube but only weighs 14 pounds. Don't get me wrong. I might have to get it in case I need something to take to band practice or shows and hold onto my 5150. My new one was biased a bit cold,(hence the 1/2 star deduction Lol) but was easily remedied. The EL84s bring down the volume while still retaining the huge, aggressive sound of a classic 5150/6505 amp. Great for players looking to put together a custom amp head & cabinet combo but may not want something as large as guitarists may commonly opt for. Peavey NEEDS to address this horrible flaw. Earlier in the month I posted a preliminary review of the Peavey 6505 MH mini amp head, and for the most part I like it, especially at lower volume, but I didn't like the tone of the distortion with the amp turned up above bedroom volume. My bandmate has an H&K with the redbox out and his tone actually sounds like his amp... go figure. The greenback sounds good once it gets broken in. Peavey 6505 Mini Head 20/5/1-watt Tube Head Reviews. The lights would blink and this weird noise would come through. eval(ez_write_tag([[580,400],'guitaarr_com-medrectangle-3','ezslot_0',112,'0','0'])); The original that this mini is based on has a lot to live up to. I thought I had my heart set on the Mesa Boogie Mark Five 25 because of its, but when the 6505MH first became available at Sweetwater, I pulled the trigger, thinking I could always get the Mark Five 25 down the road. Great work Peavey! I like that it reverb on it too. I get the perfect modern metal tone going into a closed-back Mesa 2x12" (V30's) with a noise gate and OD in front for boost. This little unit is great idea. Got my new one 3 days later! I've finally stopped playing guitar (and video games) long enough to get a video review posted of the 6505 MH that includes a couple song examples and some demos of how the amp sounds on both the green and red channels. But, if you are the kind of player who needs an amp for recording or just jamming at home, there is an even better way. I've used both outputs to send the signal to my in-ear monitors with nothing to complain about either. It sounds way better than my old 6505+ combo running it through my Mesa 1x12 recto cab loaded with a Celestion G12H-75 Creamback. And after an hour or so of jamming it had output tube problems when the dummy load was engaged. You will have to turn it off and let it sit for awhile to recover. When it comes to Orange amps, their reputation is pretty grand. Plenty of distortion...and I mean plenty! Grabbed this and the 112 cab combo after trying it out at my local box store. At this price point, I really doubt there's a better 90's metal/punk amp available. My job is to let you know, as a owner, that this little 14 lb monster ROCKS. But it sounds killer. So I opted to get the Mini version. It does not have any clean tones and the DI and reverb don't sound great, but those are forgivable. I've played all the 15-25 watt mini lunchbox amp heads. The tone I get is dogcrap... total dogcrap.
