They bring in quality films that bring truth or maybe just something outside the box. Also, it seems to be haunted! I've never been to their regular showings of The Room, but I think it's funny as hell that they do that, and I intend to check it out eventually. This place is nice enough if you carry a basket of cash. This is a pretty cool place to see obscure movies that you won't find anywhere else in town. We all are, to a degree. To be completely honest, I see a movie here about once a month and I really feel like I haven't seen a bad movie here.
I am in Eugene visiting from Austin on work. I've been going to the Bijou since it first opened many years ago and I've always been happy when I attend. A wonderful selection of movies and documentaries. the irony, I love it). Formerly a funeral home, the bijou is a great theater where you can experience what theaters USED to be like. All the class of a big city art house cinema, minus the pretension. Both times the movie sold out, which really makes me wonder...is it just a couch in there? There are two theaters. The snack bar has delicious popcorn with the option of nutritional yeast as well as many other options you wouldn't find at a more mainstream cinema. Seriously, when is the last time you had real butter at a theater?I don't want to claim to be a person who likes to make out in public places, but that may be a reason I enjoy it as well:). I can't remember most of what I saw there, but I know it was upwards of 25 films and all I can distinctly remember is Momento, Elizabeth and gosh that is all I can remember. The Bijou is the coolest movie theater in Eugene--actually, it is the ONLY cool one in Eugene since the city, in its infinite wisdom, chose to tear out the great old movie houses in favor of  expensive athletic clubs, Hilton Hotels and such.
